On Saturday 7th September 2024, Firefighters and Emergency services personnel from across Australia and the globe descended upon Melbourne to ascend the gruelling 28 Floors of the Crown Metropol raising vital funds for Cancer Research and Crisis Support.
All climbers battled the 28 floors in up to 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus as a symbol of the burden of significant health and well-being issues faced by our first responders and their families on a daily basis, some will also be breathing “on air” through a self contained breathing apparatus adding a extra level of difficulty to their climb.
Sleepy Reaper Coffee Co volunteered at the event by helping at the finish line where we could, providing much needed water, food and assistance for the climbers once they finished at the top. We look forward to helping the event in the years to come and hope to contribute through donations raised from coffee purchased. Stay tuned!
